Edvard Munch

Widely known for his much-reproduced painting `The Scream`, Edvard Munch, the great Norwegian painter, was pioneer of an art which depicted the conflicts of modern man.

The initiator of the movement known as Expressionism, Munch`s early work was greeted with indignation, incomprehension and abuse, but he achieved recognition and was considered a leader of the new art.
