The events of 1968–1999 paved the way for profound social transformations and created a new feeling towards individuals’ behavior and the relations between them, including a new consciousness of the body and of social and political dynamics. Artists experimented with visual languages that were as far away as possible from any tradition of painting, sculpture, and assemblage that predated the sixties, seeking new means of expression.
